Holy Week Day 6: Good Friday - Jesus is crucified at Golgotha
Jesus prayed with agony on this Friday morning. He is then arrested by the roman soldiers. Several trials take place. He is finally led to the crucifixion site around 12 noon.
Jesus was crucified in a place called the place of the Skull or Golgotha, also known as Calvary. The sky turned dark for three hours (Mark 15:33). Jesus cried, "It is Finished" and "Father! Into your hands I commit my spirit!" and He died (Luke 23:46). Apostle Peter later wrote in 1 Peter 1:18-19, “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.” This marks the beginning of the 3 days Jesus will be dead.
